Special Educational Needs (SEND)

At Little Learners Pre-school we have lots of experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) our setting SENCO's Nikki Smith and Sara Wollaston-Smith have many years of experience and have a passion for ensuring that all children meet their full potential.

The setting is a Communication Friendly setting (ELKLAN accreditation) and is in the process of working through its Autism accreditation.

We have a specific area of the setting dedicated to supporting children to deal with what can be an overwhelming environment. In these areas, we have a dark den, bubble tube and sensory resources which we find help children calm down with the support of a receptive and understanding adult. This area is under constant review and changes to meet the needs of the children accessing our Pre-school at that time.

If you would like to talk to either Nikki or Sara about any concerns or worries you have about your child then please ask to speak to them directly when contacting us. We try to work with parents to ensure we provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for the child and parent, as we understand that these early years can be very challenging and overwhelming.

Please see our Local Offer in our policies section for a full description of what we offer.

Hertfordshire County County also has a Local Offer website, where you can find support for children with SEN. Please click on the link below to see what is on offer.
